The house speaker of the United States, Nancy Pelosi, is currently on her high-profile trip as a part of the US obligation to stand with freedom against autocratic countries, and with the Republic of Taiwan against the Chinese empire.

The US house of representative Nancy Pelosi landed in Taiwan on Tuesday night amongst speculations about her trip, and how it will impact US-China diplomatic relations. Pelosi became the highest-ranking American diplomatic executive in 25 years to visit the democratic Island. Immediately, after she landed in Taiwan, China announced a military exercise in revenge as Taiwanese officials treated her well and took her hotel with high security.

She says her high-profile trip is part of a US agreement to stand with democracies against dictatorial countries, and with self-ruled Taiwan against China. Let’s understand the motive behind Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, and why China is terrifying so much.
Pelosi on Tuesday herself clarified the reason behind her recent trip. She stated that the US cannot stand by as China (CCP) “threatens” Taiwan and its democracy.
“We cannot stand by as the CCP proceeds to threaten Taiwan – and democracy itself.”

She wrote in a post for Washington OPED,
“It is essential that America and our allies make clear that we never give in to autocrats.”
Taiwanese people held the banner in support of her mission outside the hotel where she is staying. China is furious with her behavior because America supports in favor of democratic countries whereas China claims Taiwan as part of its own territory. She has already spoken that she and the US government always supports democratic countries, and they never give their sovereignty to autocrats.

No Tension For now
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Biden both have made clear they don’t military war. Earlier this week, in a call between them Jinping warned Biden against ‘playing with the fire’ on Taiwan. While Washington is understood as opposed to a Taiwan stop, White House national security officer John Kirby cleared that there is no reason to begin this conflict. And they are not changing their policy.
Furthermore, a senior research fellow at Chatham House thinks tank Yu Lie said,
“Despite a chorus of nationalistic rhetoric, China will be careful not to stumble into a conflict with colossal damages on all fronts.”
Pelosi went to Taiwan after her short meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri and Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah Tuesday.
