She received 81,326 votes, whereas her fellow contender Rishi Sunak received 60,399 votes only. Congratulations to her and Tory Leadership Conservative Party.
Liz Truss: Next Prime Minister of Britain Confirms!
On Monday afternoon, Liz Truss was elected as Britain’s new prime minister. She won a leadership race for the Tory Leadership Party. Currently, the country faces recession, industrial unrest, and crisis due to the Russia-Ukraine War. She received 81,326 votes in contrast to her rival Rishi Sunak got 60,399 votes. She led with nearly 20,000 votes with him.
After winning the contest, Truss has become the fourth prime minister from the conservative since the 2015 election. After announcing the result, the TV host asked her to address her voters and supporters. In response, she thanked her supporters and voters and declared she would unite the divided politics of the Conservative Party.
Truss already has experience working at the senior administration level. She served as the Foreign Secretary and Education Minister earlier. While her fellow contender Rishi Sunak was a former Finance Minister and Chancellor of Exchequer. Indian origin Sunak is a member of the Conservative Party. He has been the MP for Richmond (Yorks) since 2015.
Elizabeth Truss will join the office on 6 September, and receive the honor of PM from Monarch Queen Elizabeth II. Earlier UK citizens preferred Truss over Sunak.
Boris Johnson’s Rise and Fall
Acting Prime Minister Boris Johnson stepped down from his position in July 2022 after several scandals. He won the PM election in 2019 with 52.5% votes. Johnson succeeded former Prime Minister Theresa May from his party.
Johnson faced sexual allegations and misconduct in late 2019. Which later turned out true, and hence his downfalls began. Johnson was also found breaching the rule by enjoying a party inside the Prime Minister’s office. As per the official report, he organized a party with staff members and used heavy alcohol in 2020 and 2021.

During the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, when the government prevented UK citizens from socializing or meeting dying relatives. In response, he tried to defend himself but could not do so. Johnson received a no-confidence vote in cabinet. In July 2022, he stepped down from the office and resigned from the position. Currently, he is serving as the acting PM and will formally leave the job tomorrow.
