Sardar Azmoun started his youth football career with Oghab Gonbad. He also played for teams Shamoushak Gorgan, Etka Gorgan, and Sepahan during his youth career.
He made his senior career debut in 2013 after joining the Russian football club Rubin Kazan 2013. Sardar was sent to Rostov on loan by Kazan in 2015 and stayed there until 2017.
