The season in 1975-76 had witnessed the three and four Test tours. Sunil Gavaskar led India in a Test initially for the very first time in January 1976 when India had a match against New Zealand. In the following third test, his centuries of 102 successfully helped India post a 4/406 in order to set a new world record which was for the highest winning fourth innings score.

He was born to Manohar and Meenal Gavaskar. He belongs to Marathi Family. His maternal uncle was also a great cricketer. Gundappa Viswanath was her team fellow married her sister Kavita Viswanath. Her younger sister Nutan works as an honorary general secretary of Women’s Cricket.
