In 1987, Dragan began his playing career as a midfielder with the local club Rijeka. His time at the Spanish clubs Compostela and Las Palmas made him the first Croatian player to play abroad.
In 1996, Skocic returned to his former club Rijeka. He played for Novalja from 2001 to 2004, before retiring in 2004 after a short spell at Al-Ittihad.
